ASV6 Interface Problem

Postby Baman » August 26 2006

Hello,

I am a new user of FSFK, so far it looks great.

I do however have a problem with the interface with ASV6, I think. It maybe that I am expecting it do something it cannot!

I am using FSFK on a client PC via Wide FS. ASV6 & Radar Contact (RC4) are on the same Client PC. I have linked FSFK to ASV6 on the PC running FS9 and have linked to \modules\ASV6 where the ASV6 exe file resides.

I first of all run FS9, whilst it is loading I load the flight plan into ASV6 & RC4. Once FS9 is fully loaded at the correct airport I refresh ASV6 and start Radar Contact. I do not start FSFK until ASV6 has fully loaded the weather.

The problem I have is that FSFK is not receiving the correct weather. The ATIS report via RC4 matches the weather depicted in FS9 and as reported by ASV6. The weather reported in FSFK is the wrong date as well as the wrong weather. I am not getting a 'not available' error message.

I also run FDC Live Cockpit, Game Commander2 and AISEP on the FS9 PC. I do not believe these should affect FSFK?!

Sorry for the lengthy post but thought it best to give as much info as possible. I have checked the forum for the solution to this but could not see it. Apologies if it is there.

All replies gratefully received.

Best

Are you using ASV offline cycles? If yes, then please try to use the new FSFK v2.8, which adds support for this ASV feature. If not what are your ASV6 settings?

ASV6 Interface

Postby Baman » August 27 2006

Hello Thomas,

Thanks for the reply.

I upgraded to version 2.8 yesterday. There is an inprovement in that the 'Origin' page did show the correct weather but the enroute weather did not seem right.

I maybe getting confused with 'Planned Weather'. Where does the info for planned weather come from please?

Anyway, you asked me if I am using ASV6 offline cycles, to be honest I am not sure. I am letting ASV6 do its thing and download weather  'live' and then thinking that FSFK will tap into the information via FS9\Modules\ASV6\ASV6.exe

Which settings would you like to know about? I tried to attach a screen shot but there does not seem to be a way of doing so.

Sorry if I have not answered your questions fully.

Best

Can you please send me screenshot of your ASV settings dialog and also a screenshot of FSFK showing the weather for the plan.

Thanks

Thomas

Hello Thomas,

Shortly after my last post ASV6 started to play up. It could not process flight plan information.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled ASV6 as the repair function would not work.

FSFK is now working perfectly. The weather is depicted correctly, the flight plan downloads and is depicted correctly.

The ACARS is brilliant, it is just what I need and is much better than I thought it would be. The information available is perfect for the cockpit initialisation and preparation for appraoch and landing.

It would be great if I could access the ACARS from the VC, I will work on this.

Thank you for your support even though there was clearly no problem with FSFK.

Best
